Working at the National Football League’s west coast office, I helped to create designs, concepts and art direction to inform leadership, as well as the architectural firm, Gensler, of design directions they should follow when building out interiors of the new NFL Network 's headquarters in Inglewood. A lot of the work I created for the NFL was focused on abstraction, taking common and overly used assets and manipulating them into something new.

Logo Abstraction: Exploded NFL Shield

I am very interested in how we as designers can intentionally break rules to create moments of joy and delight for audiences. Another concept I explored was how I could break up the sacred NFL Shield and create an abstracted mark that could show up as pattern or large scale artwork.

Glass Treatments

Playing with merging elements such as typography, scale, images and graphics together, this concept was created to help illustrate how imagery and design assets could show up on glass walls on the executive level floor hallways.

Wayfinding Concepts — Graphic Style/Colorway (Field Markers)

Wayfinding could use typography from the NFL brand guidelines and field markers, referencing the fluorescent orange and bold typography that is seen on the field.

Hanging Surfboard Concepts

To help add elements of Southern California into the new NFL Networks LA headquarters, thirty-two surfboards will hang from the ceiling in the main dining quarters, acting as a visual staple in the open floor environment. Each board will represent a NFL team, and I was tasked to help concept how each team could show up in interesting and unexpected applications.
My design approach was to take features of a team’s city and incorporate them into the surfboard's design. Focusing on a variety of elements such as architecture, landmarks, culture/history and mottos, these directions can become creative backdrops for the surfboards, creating a piece of fan culture that’s wholly loyal to communities across the League.
